National Vapers Club recently contracted CHANGE to complete the Indoor Vapor Air Quality Study, nicknamed IVAQS project. These grassroots activists are seeking funding from industry professionals (retailers, manufacturers, wholesalers, etc.) and electronic cigarette consumers.
NEWS UPDATE!!!
12/4/11 - IVAQS paper is being written and is in the first draft stage. Toxicology reports are being done now and we should have a working draft before the end of the year. Still need about $3500 to complete the project.
11/4/11 - After raising nearly $12,000 at Vegas Vapefest we now have enough to pay the researcher to complete writing the IVAQS paper for publication. we are still $3500 short to pay toxicologists to anayze the data and without those results we cannot complete the paper. We will borrow that if necessary and pay the money back after Boston Vapefest in March, but any donations are appreciated (click here). We are working on the drafts of paper now and we hope to have it ready to submit for publication by the end of the year.
Two sets of data were collected to confirm findings. The data will be analyzed and compared once we receive the second set of data in a few weeks. We hope during that time we can raise enough to get the data written into a paper and published! You can help by purchasing raffle tickets below. Thank you to Yolanda Villa, attorney and e-cigarette activist, for joining us in the frigid cold and braving the blizzard to be there with us!
The purpose of this study is to determine components of vapor in the environment during electronic cigarette use under various conditions. Parties contracted to do the study have extensive experience studying indoor air quality and have prior experience investigating environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). The study will proceed in two parts; data collection and then analysis and publication.
Quoted Cost of Data Collection - $46,000 USD
Quoted Cost of Analysis and Publication - $30,000 USD
Approximate Total - $76,000 USD
We are optimistic that the results of this study will help alleviate concerns about public health by confirming previous studies’ results which suggested that second hand vapor inhalation is no more hazardous than other environmental impurities to which we are exposed every day. It should also determine the degree of risk, if any, associated with exposure to the product. Proposed methods to be used in the IVAQS project can be found here or for more specific info you can contact National Vapers Club through their website at www.VapersClub.com.
Organizations such as WHO and FDA continue to spread misinformation about electronic cigarettes. The result of their misinformation has been baseless, widespread, irrational fear about the effects of a product which has the potential to save 4 million lives over the next decade.
To preserve the potential of this product, it is essential that those of us who understand the value and true potential of this product contribute to the study so it can be completed on a timely basis. We are pleading with you for your help. This study is absolutely critical to saving millions of lives and the continued survival of the e-cigarette industry all over the world.
We need contributions from every vaper, manufacturer and retailer out there.
